Melbourne is considered the sporting capital of Australia, with some of the biggest events held around the city, including international events. Motorsports are a big deal in Australia, and Formula1 doesn’t get any bigger. This annual event is held at Albert Park Lake in late March. The Australian Open which is held in January is a must-see for tennis enthusiasts and is the first of the four international Grand Slams. Australian Rules Football is one of the most popular sports in Australia and the AFL Grand Final is played in Melbourne every year in September. So, if you are a sports fan, there are plenty of events to choose from.

Located in Federation Square, this not-for-profit organisation showcases all different types of indigenous artwork, historical artefacts, photos, and videos. The organisation aims to maintain awareness of the culture and history of the Aboriginal people who have lived in southeast Australia for thousands of years. The place gives a really interesting insight into life before colonisation as well as an insight into the genius and creativity of the indigenous people throughout the generations. The Trust was established in 1985 as a way to respectfully preserve the history of the indigenous locals. If you are interested in history, this should be a stop to make during your travels.
