In a Big Ten matchup on Wednesday at the State Farm Center, the Illinois women’s basketball team secured a decisive victory over Rutgers, triumphing 96-68. Genesis Bryant led the way with 17 points, heading a group of six Illini players who reached double figures. Former Northwestern High School standout Kendall Bostic contributed 13 points and seven rebounds, showcasing impressive accuracy with a 6-of-8 shooting performance, including a successful 3-point attempt.

Bostic has maintained a season shooting percentage of 64.4% (85 of 132), placing her tied for second in the conference. The Illinois team, with an overall record of 8-8 and a Big Ten standing of 2-4, is set to face Maryland on Saturday.

In another Big Ten women’s basketball clash, the 16th-ranked Indiana team dominated Minnesota, securing an 85-62 victory. Mackenzie Holmes, an All-American player, played a pivotal role with 32 points and seven rebounds, shooting an impressive 15 of 17 from the field. Holmes leads the Big Ten with a remarkable season shooting percentage of 67% (142 of 212). Sara Scalia contributed 22 points to the Hoosiers’ success. The team, with an overall record of 15-2 and a Big Ten standing of 6-1, is scheduled to play against Purdue on Sunday.

Moving to IU Kokomo, both the women’s and men’s basketball teams are hosting Alice Lloyd College for River States Conference games at IUK’s Student Activities and Events Center. The women’s game kicks off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m. The IUK women’s team holds a record of 3-11 overall and 0-6 in the RSC, while the Cougar men boast a 13-3 overall record and a 3-3 standing in the conference.

David Gossman, a local businessman and devoted IUK supporter, aims to raise funds for the American Cancer Society during the halftime of the men’s game. For each layup by a fan, he pledges a $10 donation, and for every 3-pointer, he commits a $20 donation.
